Summary

As the founder of the original Women’s Half Marathon series with races in 5 cities and runners from all 50 states, Dawna Stone saw an opportunity in 2020 to create a virtual event to connect runners from all over the country. She came to Mile End Digital to help brainstorm ideas and come up with an effective way to reach these women to spread the story and community of the Virtual Women's Half Marathon.

The Challenge

In the middle of a pandemic, with starting lines paused all over the world, how do you engage with and build a community of runners? How do you make people feel like they’re part of something bigger when everyone was so isolated? 

Using professional training plans as a free download, we collected email addresses, sent newsletters with custom content, and kept engaging with the Virtual WHM audience from launch all the way through race day.
